Obituary for Tomas Garcia-Arellano

Tomas Garcia-Arellano
Alamosa resident, Mr. Tomás García Arellano, 71, drifted into this earthly plane on December 21, 1945. His beautiful spirit was released on April 18, 2017. He was born in La Soledad, Jalisco, México to María Belén Arellano and José García Muñiz.

He was a beloved father to Belén, Elizabeth, Thomas (Jessica), Joel, Vidal and Roman. He was a loving grandfather to Cynthia (Eduardo), Vanessa, Isabella, Victoria, Joe, Ariana, Thomas, Isaiah, Damion, Jaelin, and Aiden. Great-grandchildren Raylinn, Camryn, Noah, Lily, Elijah and Jeremiah. He is survived by all his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He enjoyed cheating at cards, playing pool, watching football, boxing and UFC fights. He also loved watching the Discovery Channel, and anything having to do with nature and science. He loved to laugh...especially when he didn't get caught cheating at cards! He experienced the pain and beauty in the world but chose to spread hope and love wherever he went by doing all he could to lighten others' loads. His life was not what he had planned but it was full of adventure! He left his native country at a young age, traveled to a foreign country where he didn't know a soul, speak the language or hold any currency. He trusted that God had it figured out...always! His faith carried him through difficult struggles but always he looked on the bright side and was full of hope. He thought it important to help anyone who needed it even when he, himself struggled. He lived his life on his own terms and passed into the next in the same way. His Catholic faith helped forge him into a brave and humble man. He never sought recognition for or accepted praise from the people he helped along his way. Although he'd never admit it, his presence on this earth had an immeasurable impact and the void he left behind cannot be filled but his memory will continue to be celebrated.

Cremation was chosen and a Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 24, 2017 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Alamosa. A Recitation of the rosary will be held 7:00 p.m. Sunday, April 23rd also at the church.

Rogers Family Mortuary of Alamosa is in care of the arrangements. Online condolences, tributes and remarks may be made for Tomás’ family by visiting www.RogersFunerals.com
