Obituary for Raymond Salvador Medina

Raymond Salvador Medina
Alamosa County resident Raymond Salvador Medina, 80, passed away on March 3, 2017. Raymond was born on May 19, 1936 in Center, Colorado to Bill and Eva Medina. He Joined the Marines at a young age where he was a helicopter mechanic and where he met the love of his life in California. Raymond and June LaVaughn Douglas married young and spent sixty-one years of marriage together in complete happiness. Raymond was a Korean War Veteran and a member of the Alamosa American Legion.

Raymond loved the lord and would share his love with everyone he met whether it be with his family daily or a stranger he just met. For many years Raymond worked for and retired from the Alamosa School District in Custodial Services. He enjoyed being outside and working with his hands especially doing yard work and land scaping. He was a talented landscaper and would spend hours outside working or driving around his beloved little tractor. When he wasn’t working, you were sure to find Raymond sitting in front of the T.V. watching Rio Bravo or one of his other many favorite westerns. Raymond lived a very happy life, and that life is reflected in his loving family. He will be missed by many but will be forgotten by none.

Raymond is survived by his loving wife, June Medina of the family home in Alamosa. His Children; Raymond (Yolanda) Medina of Alamosa, Mark Salvador Medina of Alamosa, LaVaughn Medina of Monte Vista, and Andrew (Gloria) Medina of Alamosa. His Grandchildren; Amanda, Kendra, Joseph, Joshua, Jacob, Andrew, Derek, Abby, Thomas, Isaiah, Regina, Teneshia. His Siblings; Ramos Medina of Monte Vista, Clara (Jasper) Sanchez of Del Norte, and Susie (Steve) Reed of Alamosa. As well as numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Eva Medina. His brothers, Max Elias Gallegos, and Billy Medina. As well as his son Matthew Medina.

There will be a viewing held at The River of Life Church on Saturday, March 11, 2017 from 10:00 A.M. to 10:45 A.M. with a funeral service starting at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow services at the Del Norte Cemetery with Military Honors.
